A few recollections from Little Tavern's loyal punks, oops, I meant PATRONS

Classmate Pat Tufts' younger brother Bill (and also her brother in law Jack Sipes) worked briefly at the Bethesda Little Tavern.  Bill was amused by the little chart by the cash register stating:

1 hamburger = 10 cents

2 hamburgers = 20 cents

3 hamburgers = 30 cents

4 hamburgers = 40 cents

5 hamburgers = 50 cents, and so forth.

Classmate Rusty Johnson's mother had a tradition of letting Rusty and his brother have anything they wanted for their birthday dinners.  One year Rusty chose ten Little Tavern burgers for his dinner.  His mother gave him a dollar and said that it was her favorite birthday dinner preparation ever.

And of course since any punk worth his salt back in those days smoked, so who could forget the great "no questions asked" Little Tavern cigarette machine?
