Donald Soper
Robert Donald deMarcus Soper, age 75, of Gulfport, Florida, passed away on August 8, 2018, after a period of declining health.
Born February 24, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to parents Leroy Benson Soper and Lucile Nantz Soper, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a brother, William L. Soper, whom he managed to visit in Paris, France in May; a niece, Stephanie Soper of Randleman, NC; and numerous friends, near and far.
Raised in Bethesda, Maryland, with an interest in art, inherited from his mother, Don attended and graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland. He went on to attend the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore, obtained his DDS, and fulfilled his military obligation with the public health service in NYC. Subsequently, he served as Dental Officer with the US Coast Guard Mobile Dental Unit in Florida.
He then opened a private dental practice in St Petersburg where, for many years, he created life-long friendships. After his retirement, he relocated to a condominium in Town Shores in Gulfport where he has been active in Art Clubs and a French language group.
Don will be remembered by all for his positive outlook, his imagination, his creativity and artistic ability and, above all, his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
