Jean C. (Irvin) Logan March 1, 1943 - March 5, 2022 (age 79)
Jean Catherine (Irvin) Logan, age 79, died surrounded by her loving family on March 5, 2022 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Logan and brother, John Joseph Irvin. Born in Washington D.C. in 1943, Jean was the daughter of Elizabeth Frances Harper and William Howard Irvin. She is survived by her only child, Roberta Jean (Oltmanns) Footen, and by her twin sister, Elizabeth Anne Irvin. Jean leaves behind her grandchildren Jeffrey Nugent, Kristy Smith, Teresa Musick Shakir, and David Lee Musick, III; great-grandchildren Carolina and Sofia Nugent, Blake and Taryn Schmatz, Mason Pullman, Dani Kimble, and Josie Shakir, and great-great grandson, Roman Schmalz. She adored her daughter’s husband, Joe Footen, and Teresa’s husband, Anthony Shakir and especially appreciated their visits, and those of her grandson, Jeffrey, during her final months. Jean also benefited from the love and support of her son-in-law, David Musick, Jr. Jean was treasured by her friends and family and could always be counted on to lighten the moment with something funny to say. Jean was a graduate of Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and lived most of her life in Maryland, moving to Massachusetts in 1993. She worked as an administrative assistant for the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD and later as Administrative Assistant to the Director of the National Association of the Deaf. Throughout her life, Jean was grateful to many people and organizations for their kindness, support, and care. Among these are the Virginia Methodist Children’s Home in Richmond, VA, Elder Services of Merrimack Valley (MA), the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, the McCarthy Care Center Hospice, and her treasured Sutton Home for Women.
