John "J.R." Williams, 47, died June 13, 1991, at home.  John Williams, a native of Corvallis, Ore., received his master`s degree from University of Iowa and did undergraduate work at Amherst College.

 He was a teacher and administrator at Charlotte Country Day School since 1976 and also had taught in Watertown, Conn. He was varsity tennis coach and a Special Olympics baseball umpire.

 Survivors are his wife, Betty; daughter, Miss Laura Williams; mother, Mrs. Joan Williams of Dickson, Tenn.; sister, Mrs. Wendy Beasley of Burns, Tenn.
