Parker Smith passed away peacefully in a peace of heaven called Simcoe , Hospice in Barrie, Canada. His sister and good friend, Doug Mackie were by his side. His friend Paul Curran had been calling daily!

Parker was born in Glenridge, New Jersey, to Janet Mix Smith and Henry Howard Smith on December 27, 1943. The family soon moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where his father was employed as a reporter for the Providence, Journal. From an early age he had a passion for his school work and fishing.

The family moved to the Washington, D.C. area in his early teens, where he attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, graduated in 1961. He then went on to American University in Washington D.C. and graduated with a BA in Sociology. During this time his objection to the Vietnam War grew and he left the country to live in Sweden. There he wasted no time , mastered the language and entered the University of Stockholm, all while driving for the Stockholm Subway. He earned his Master's of Sociology from the University of Stockholm.

In 1975 he moved to Canada, where he worked in the Insurance Industry and then returned to the D.C. area and worked for IBM and of course found time for fishing! Any donations to Simcoe Hospice, in Barrie Canada, in his memory, would be welcome!

In a number of years, he found the country and politics of Canada more appealing and returned and became a Canadian Citizen in 1995. he then spent 20 years working for the Bank of Montreal, in Toronto. During this time he entertained many as an Elvis impersonator at Collingwood in Ontario, Canada. And of course he found time for fishing. After retiring from the bank he was hired at Bass Pro and never failed to engage customers with fishing tips, giving them many pointers, all with fun and good humor.

In the past 5 years he had moved to Barrie , Canada and given its proximity to friends and good fishing, he was quite content. he will be missed by many.

He is survived by his sister, Betsy Smith of Rockville, Maryland and Lucy Tracy of Bar Harbor, Maine and two nephews , Christopher and Daniel Tracy.

Parker will be buried at St Paul's cemetery in Innisfil, Canada.
