Susan Middleman (1943 - 2024)
Susan J. Middleman, aged 80, passed away on July 20, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA. Born in Silver Spring, MD, Susan was a talented artist and known personality in Highland Park where she lived, and in Shadyside where she spent many years working in retail.
Susan held a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and a Master of Fine Arts from George Washington University. Susan's extensive career as an artist was distinguished by her unique ability to capture the essence of her subjects, a talent that earned her respect and admiration in the art community.
Her passion for art was matched by her love for her dogs, which were her constant companions on her many walks. Susan was known for her remarkable personality—often described as a "collector of people" for her ability to attract and cherish diverse friendships.
She leaves behind her sister, Maxine (Hank) Davis. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Gordon Middleman, and her mother, Charlotte Marks Middleman.
Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her art will continue to inspire.
