The Mighty Mo is back!  You locals (or visitors) will be thrilled to know that the Mighty Mo has been resurrected at Revival, a restaurant at the Marriott Key Bridge Hotel.   Rusty Johnson, Barbara Johnson and Jan Tupper will testify to its absolute authenticity.  The restaurant manager, a D.C. local of our age, reported that a customer had the audacity to come in and order it with French fries instead of onion rings!  The manager was aghast.  She also tells us that a group of 20 people came up from the Eastern Shore just to dig in.  If you're in the vicinity, it's worth it. And they serve Gifford's ice cream.  (We also have to mention that having a Might Mo with a glass of Pinot Noir or a bottle of Bud is pretty cool.)

According to Bethesda Magazine, B-CC students are now eating lunch at Cosi, Chipotle, Potbelly, and McDonald's.  They don't know what they're missing.

Yuppie Invasion!

On a not so happy note, we've

also learned that the funky Zebra Lounge (a hangout for the more adventurous among us) is no more. Even more discouraging for its former aficionados, it's been replaced by a sleek yuppie wine bar.

Calling all classmates who went to

Rock Creek Forest Elementary School!

A few volunteers are running an online group and website just for you. We already have 30 members. The website is full of pictures including class pictures from grades K to 6,  pictures from the 2006 reunion at the elementary school, and as a bonus Kensington Junior High home room pictures. The website includes a message board where classmates can reconnect with old friends. Its lots of fun!

   Fun Show at the Strathmore!

Here's a chance to revisit some of our more memorable moments (that is, if you can stand to see how they've aged):  Frankie Avalon, Fabian, and Bobby Rydell will be performing on December 3, at Strathmore in Bethesda.  There will be footage from American Bandstand--AND A DANCE CONTEST.  Get out there a show 'em what the class of '61 can do.

 Good practice for the 50th!

How many of you remember "Beer Dave," a notorious Hot Shop habitue who wore a black leather motorcycle jacket festooned with beer can openers?  OK, so it's probably a niche group; but just in case you ever wondered about Dave, he went to California and wrote a book called Raising Hell, " . . . a contemporary novel [1963] of modern juvenile delinquency told from the standpoint of the delinquents themselves, under the nom de plume of Dave Jay" (real name Dave Riskinski?). Book available at Amazon.com.  No kidding!

Got any "nostalgia" you want to share with classmates?  Snippets and photos sent to Barbara Johnson at 7500 Shadywood Road, Bethesda, MD  20817, could find their way into the next email. And if you sent something in, and don't see it included this time, we will do our best to include it next time.  Still looking for great photos of beehive hairdos!

And our thanks go out to those of you who have donated to support both our newsletters and our 50th. You're generosity is most appreciated. Keep 'em coming!  Every bit helps.  Also, please let us know if you move or if you change e-mail address, phone number or name. You can send Barbara a note or e-mail her at bj8x@msn.com  Thanks--we'd hate to lose track of you.  And you don't want to miss getting the next newsletter. Booklets are still available from Barbara for $20.  See how your classmates have changed and what they're been up to over these many years. Checks for donations or booklets should be made out to Smith Barney and sent to Barbara Johnson at the above address.

Please keep the reunion committee informed!  If we have a work e-mail address for you and you may be changing jobs, retiring, or prefer a home e-mail address, let Barbara know that too. Lastly if you know the e-mail address of classmates who are not getting our e-mails, you can give those e-mail addresses to Barbara also.
Have a beautiful Autumn and be sure to vote on November 4th!
